Hi, Gerard O’Dea here from Dynamis with a video of a talk which I came across today from the Restraint Reduction Network. If you are involved in Elderly Care in particular, as I am, please take some time today and review the talk as there are some very essential points made.
I thought that in particular, Lynn Phair’s comments about ABC charts is extremely on-point. Without clear training and then supervision and review in regards to the detail which is being put into these charts, they can be largely meaningless and are in fact unlikely to result in improved care for the person who is presenting the distressed or challenging behaviour.
The included footage from the Panorama documentary is – again – harrowing and disappointing. I hope you enjoy the clip – please leave a comment if you have something to discuss on this topic.
